Title: Next Generation Mapping for Public Safety

Presenter:  Chuck Ronshagen, Sr. Sales Engineer - PlantCML

Everyone's talking about Next Generation, but what does it mean to the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP)?  Next Generation is about the Network and getting a call to the right PSAP without Tandem Routing.  What does this have to do with PSAP applications?  It doesn't really affect PSAP operations as long as the call and Automatic Location Identification (ALI) gets there right?  The "problem" is that once we have connectivity to outside parties only your imagination can limit what can now be brought into the PSAP.  This discussion will talk about spatially relevant items that will have to utilize a map engine to display their locations.  Start thinking about what you anticipate coming into the PSAP and how you will want it handled. For those associated with GIS but not Public Safety, now is the time to see how your efforts can assist emergency responders.

Guarantees of what attendees will learn:

  1. What map data is currently in use by Public Safety
  2. Why everyone is talking about Next Generation and what it means to the spatially focused
  3. What issues a PSAP will face as connectivity allows “new” data sources in the PSAP
  4. Roles and responsibilities for production and maintenance of map data for Public Safety
